Yampano asked forgiveness for people jailed over sharing his private videos online.

Rwandan singer Yampano has publicly asked forgiveness for people who were jailed after being accused of sharing his private intimate videos online.

The artist shared the message through an open letter posted on his social media platforms, saying he now wants to live a peaceful life without anger or emotional pain.

The letter has quickly attracted attention online, especially because it comes while an appeal case linked to the video scandal is still ongoing in court.

Yampano Says He Chose Peace

In his message, Yampano explained that people sometimes make mistakes because of anger, alcohol, youth, or personal problems.

However, he said growing older helped him understand that peace and forgiveness are more important than endless conflict.

He wrote:

“Today I want everyone to know that I have chosen peace.”

The singer added that he forgives anyone currently in prison because of issues connected to the private videos and the controversies surrounding them.

According to Yampano, he no longer wants people to continue living in hatred, conflict, or emotional pain because of the situation.

Wants a New Beginning

Yampano also said he hopes to start a new chapter in his life focused on hard work, music, and personal healing.

He explained that forgiveness should not be seen as weakness, but rather as courage to choose peace over revenge.

Fans on social media reacted differently to the message. Some praised him for choosing reconciliation, while others questioned why the statement came after the court process had already advanced.

New Album Also Announced

At the end of his message, Yampano revealed that he is preparing a new music album titled “On The World.”

He said the project will focus on:

  • Life struggles
  • Personal growth
  • Healing
  • Staying strong during difficult moments

The singer explained that the album reflects lessons he learned after going through painful experiences and public controversies.

Lawyer Says the Letter Came Late

Lawyer Me Justin Ngenzi, who represents one of the accused persons in the case, said he was not sure why Yampano decided to release the letter now.

However, the lawyer explained that the message could have helped more if it had been presented before or during the court hearings.

He said:

“If he wanted to help them, the letter should have come before the trial or during the hearings.”

According to the lawyer, courts sometimes consider such actions when deciding punishments.

Appeal Case Still Waiting for Judgment

The letter was released shortly after the appeal hearing involving several people accused of spreading Yampano’s private videos online.

Those involved include:

  • Uzabakiriho Cyprien, also known as Djihad
  • Ishimwe François Xavier
  • Kwizera Nestor, known as Papy Nesta
  • Kalisa John, known as K John

The group had earlier been sentenced to three years in prison over the distribution of intimate videos involving Yampano and his wife.

The court is expected to announce the appeal decision on 19 May 2026.

Social Media Reactions Continue

The case has remained one of the most discussed entertainment stories in Rwanda over the past months.

Some people believe Yampano’s forgiveness message shows maturity and emotional growth, while others say legal processes should continue independently.

The story has also reopened discussions about privacy, social media responsibility, and the sharing of private content online.
