Kagame’s Strong Message in Gabiro.

President Kagame criticizes silence on Congo killings, saying that ignoring the violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo is equal to supporting it. Speaking at a regional event, Kagame strongly condemned those who choose to remain quiet while people are being killed.

“Whenever something happens in eastern Congo, it is blamed on Rwanda. Yet the killings carried out by Congolese groups and the government itself are never mentioned,” Kagame said.

Violence in Congo and Its Consequences

The President reminded the audience that Congolese citizens continue to die in large numbers because of violent groups such as Interahamwe, Wazalendo, and armed forces allied with the Congolese Government.

Many families, fearing for their lives, have crossed into Rwanda in search of safety. Despite this reality, Kagame explained, Rwanda is constantly blamed by external voices who ignore the suffering of ordinary Congolese people.

“It is no secret that thousands have been killed by their own government and militias. Yet the world remains silent,” he stressed.

Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Accusations

Kagame strongly criticized accusations made against the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF). He explained that Rwanda has always played a positive role, including helping foreign mercenaries and soldiers in Congo to return peacefully to their countries through Rwanda.

“They accuse RDF of being a killer force. But where is the evidence? The truth is RDF has helped many go home safely,” Kagame said.

Despite this, reports continue to target Rwanda unfairly. Kagame emphasized that these narratives are not based on facts but on political motives aimed at damaging Rwanda’s image.

Rwanda’s Position on Defense

As Commander-in-Chief, Kagame reminded soldiers of their duty: defending Rwanda’s sovereignty, not starting wars.

“Our mission is not to kill or injure. But if others bring war to Rwanda, we will fight and we will win,” he said firmly.

He stressed that Rwanda is not a warmonger but will never allow itself to be threatened or humiliated.

Standing Firm Against Threats

Kagame warned that groups or individuals who attempt to harm Rwanda will always fail. In his words:

“Those who loudly promised to destroy Rwanda have already seen that it is not possible. If they try again, they will fail once more, even harder than before.”

This, he said, should serve as a lesson to all actors who think they can destabilize Rwanda.

Discipline, Unity, and Preparedness

The President concluded by calling on soldiers and citizens to stay prepared at all times. Rwanda, despite limited resources, has built strong institutions, invested in training, and shown resilience.

He highlighted that Rwanda’s real strength lies in discipline, unity, and readiness to face any challenge.

“We must never tire. Even with few resources, we must continue to learn, innovate, and defend our people,” Kagame told the soldiers.
