Gen. Muhoozi Says Kagame and Rwigema Are Like Angels Who Raised Him
Gen. Muhoozi says Kagame and Rwigema are like angels because they raised him like their own son. The Ugandan army chief shared this message on social media, saying both leaders treated him with love and care when he was young.
The head of Uganda’s army, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, shared a strong message of love and respect for President Paul Kagame and Rwanda’s national hero Maj. Gen. Fred Rwigema. He said the two men treated him like their own son and guided him when he was young.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on July 15, 2025, Gen. Muhoozi wrote that because of the care and support he received from them, Kagame and Rwigema are like angels to him.
Why Muhoozi Respects Kagame and Rwigema Deeply
Gen. Muhoozi said:
“Afande Rwigema and Afande Kagame are like angels to me because they raised me and treated me like their son when I was still very young. Even now, I have nothing to give them except love.”
He also added that he sees these men as his role models and will always respect them.
Kagame and Rwigema Among Muhoozi’s Top Four Heroes
Gen. Muhoozi once said that President Kagame is one of the four great heroes of Uganda, along with:
- President Yoweri Museveni
- Gen. Salim Saleh
- Maj. Gen. Fred Rwigema
He believes these four leaders shaped his character and helped him grow as a person and leader.
Muhoozi’s Childhood Connection with Kagame and Rwigema
In 2022, during Muhoozi’s 48th birthday, President Museveni said his son always liked being close to Kagame and Rwigema during their time in the Uganda military. Museveni shared that even as a child, Muhoozi had a special bond with them.
Later, in 2024, Muhoozi asked that a statue of Maj. Gen. Rwigema be built in Kampala to honor him.
Muhoozi: I Never Disagree with President Kagame
On June 25, 2025, Muhoozi posted again on X, saying no one should think he has ever disagreed with Kagame. He said:
“Anyone who says I went against our father, Afande Kagame, is just looking for trouble. I will find the right answer for them.”
This shows his deep loyalty to Rwanda’s President.
Muhoozi Helped Restore Peace Between Rwanda and Uganda
Muhoozi is known for helping rebuild relations between Rwanda and Uganda, especially during a hard time when the two countries had many problems.
In 2022, President Kagame praised Muhoozi’s role in bringing peace between the two neighbors. He said good generals are not only those who win wars but also those who make peace.
Kagame said:
“If bringing Rwanda and Uganda back together needed you, Muhoozi, as a messenger, I thank God for you.”
His Love for Kagame Remains Strong
Since peace returned between the two countries, Muhoozi has always spoken kindly about President Kagame. He often calls him a great leader and someone he respects deeply.
